Ruben Loftus-Cheek is an elegant midfielder. He is tall, skillful, calm on the ball with good technique and movement. Loftus-Cheek has played mostly as a deep-lying playmaker or a box-to-box midfielder.
Born in London, Loftus Cheek started his career at Chelsea aged eight. He will be a part of the under-18 and under-21 squad that won the FA Youth Cup final twice in a row and the under-21 Premier League. He was also involved in the UEFA Youth League triumph of the 2014/15 season.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will make a senior team appearance under Jose Mourinho in December 2014. In a Champions League match against Sporting CP, he appeared as a substitute. He made further few first-team appearances.
He will sign a contract that will keep him in Chelsea for five years in February 2016. Under Antonio Conte, he played further forward. The coach believed he will make a good striker.
Crystal Palace (Loan)
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was sent to spend the 2017/18 season on loan at Crystal Palace. He will impress in South London even though he was asked to play out wide. He will earn an international call-up by Gareth Southgate.
He will return to Chelsea ahead of the 2018/19 season. He featured for Maurizio Sarri’s side as Chelsea won the Europa League though he missed the final with an injury. He scored a personal best 10 goals across 40 appearances for the Blues.
Loftus Cheek signed a new five-year deal at the start of the 2019/20 season. Frank Lampard will send him on loan to Fulham for the 2020/21 season. He was helpless as Fulham struggled to retain their Premier League status, relegating to the Championship.
On his international debut in November 2017 against Germany, Ruben Loftus-Cheek was named the Man of the Match. He was part of the England squad to the 2018 World Cup.
