Chelsea FC is one of the biggest success stories in English, European, and world football. The rise of the team from an average team in West London to becoming a European giant is phenomenal.

The arrival of Roman Abramovich and his insatiable quest for success has created a sort of envy from other football clubs. Even the fans have been labeled ‘plastic fans’ because of their inpatient with coaches and players that fail to deliver success immediately.

Europe – Champions League and Europa League

Chelsea rose from the early days of mediocrity to become one of the most successful clubs in England and Europe. They are the first club in London to win the Champions League. The history was written in Allianz Arena, in 2012, the home of all-conquering Bayern Munich who was the eventual finalist.

Chelsea FC will go on to repeat this feat in 2021 against Pep Guardiola’s inspired Manchester City team in Lisbon. Thomas Tuchel came at half-season to replace Lampard, who was relieved of his duties after a difficult start to his second season as a Chelsea manager.

The German tactician will turn Chelsea season around and deliver a sucker punch to deny Guardiola and Manchester the hope of being a European champion for the first time.

Chelsea is the only London team (other London rivals are Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Crystal Palace) to win the Champions League and the Europa League.

Recently, Chelsea defeated Villareal, the current Europa League holders to win the UEFA Super Cup for the second time.

They have won the Europa League twice, first in 2013 under Benitez and then in 2019 under Maurizio Sarri.
